In a bid to stem unemployment among youths and to give opportunity of employment to post service year fresh graduates, the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State has partnered with Dragnet Solutions to launch a job search portal mainly for fresh graduates. This arrangement which is being supervised by the Assistant Director, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development( SAED) Lagos, Mrs. Rachael Idaewor was disclosed to the State Coordinator, Prince Momoh Muhammed, during a meeting at the State Secretariat, Surulere.
While commenting on the reliability of the initiative, the Co-founder of Dragnet Solutions, Mr. Baba Ikazoboh, who led the team explained that initiating such a project will carve out humongous opportunity for; Small Scale Enterprises (SMEs) that will be employing locally, Medium Scale businesses that want to employ only fresh graduates and some of the corps members, who are employable.

According to Mr. Ikazoboh, this particular idea of creating a reservoir for unemployed fresh graduates makes the initiative a unique one and a cut from others. Unlike other job search engines which have a wide coverage and lacks the capability of sorting out fresh graduates, hence, subjecting fresh graduates to endless search and inability to fit into the specifications of prospective employers, the NYSC-Dragnet solutions initiative is designed to cut off this anomaly and make graduates gain employment quickly as employers do not need scouting for them when they know where to come. ‘The NYSC Lagos jobs center online portal is an instrument to create job opportunities for corps members after service year. This new initiative is already a threat, a competitor to our own job portal due to this unique feature, Mr. Ikazobah said.

In a pledge of support, the State Coordinator, Prince Momoh Muhammed vowed to recommend the initiative to the National Directorate Headquarters (NDHQ), hence, nationwide. While responding to the development during a slide presentation of the initiative at the Surulere State Secretariat office, he said such a lofty idea can only be promoted without delay due to its flexibility, accessibility and appeal to a certain target audience which is fresh graduates, an initiative which reflects the objective of the National Youth Service Corps.
The team leader and Co-founder of Dragnet Solutions, however, appreciated the State Coordinator for his warmness, resourcefulness and his visionary initiative. Meanwhile, Dragnet Solutions which is one of the biggest partners of NYSC Lagos has in the past donated a considerable number of computers to the NYSC-SAED Lagos branch, a development, which has upgraded the face of the branch’s computer pool and waxes its status with distinction.
